For the popular Sunday matinee concert series at the Milan Triennale, a large chorus used non-verbal vocal sounds. The audience was seated on the monumental staircase of the museum, facing towards the lobby where the musicians and chorus stood. Sounds also descended from the ramps of the staircase over the heads of the audience. The sound sources were hidden from view. A conductor (an operatic baritone) stood on the landing behind the audience, acting as a visual and aural connector between Steve and Gak down in the lobby and the sound-makers hidden on the upper landing.
