BACK HOME ON VOSTOK
The balcony opens into a room of light. There stands a shrine made out of fragments of the universe. They were brought back by Yuri Aleksejevich Gagarin from his only trip in space. It lasted one hour and forty-eight minutes, on the 21st of April, 1961.
“The sky is black, the earth is blue.” Maybe that is what he thought from the balcony in space, as he was the first man to look out at something never seen before.
Vostok was the name of the spaceship in which he was traveling. Small as it was, he still managed to bring back these little fragments from his trip.
They are not fossils. They don’t belong to any category known to us.
They were just ideas, passing by, shooting in time and space, interrupted by what they encountered for the first time: a spaceship from earth.
