The balcony is the part of the house where inside and outside coexist in a subtle balance. I too had a balcony on my house, and I would watch the little street, the people walking by. I would peek into the neighbors’ courtyards with their trees and flowers, the roofs made of red tiles where cats often passed.
Then that landscape started to change, and the view from the balcony wasn’t the same. Menacing volumes started to take form. Now that balcony no longer exists. The world outside changed so much that the balcony couldn’t survive the disruption of that subtle balance.
